Women Empowerment Takes Centre Stage at Yonela’s Cape Town Event

The BIC Soleil Squad’s Yonela Makalima recently hosted an intimate Women’s Empowerment event in Cape Town, with the goal of uplifting and inspiring women through the sharing of their journeys.

With this, her first event as BIC Soleil ambassador, Yonela aimed to connect women of different backgrounds and interests and provide an opportunity for them to participate in and contribute to authentic conversations about women empowerment. By encouraging women to take stock of their personal journeys while sharing them with others, her hope was that they would each leave with a renewed perspective.

Yonela kicked proceedings off by talking about BIC Soleil’s #ShineYourWay platform – giving guests an important background around the how brand expresses its values of confidence, spirit and fun. She explained what #ShineYourWay means to her personally and how it fits into her life and her role as an ambassador.

Topics of discussion at the event included how to healthily pursue your dreams, the power of grooming in helping women to shine their way, and the importance of being a thought-leader in your chosen career. Each topic was introduced and led by Yonela in conjunction with inspirational women from a wide variety of industries – including a medical doctor, a beauty influencer and a financial planner.

The event was a great success, with guests engaging in thought-provoking conversations and sharing personal lessons and wins that they have gathered along their personal journeys. Nkanyezi, one of the guests, mentioned that she shines in her ability to introspect and go back to the things that make her, her, while Thabi referred to this as ‘returning to source’ and owning your own dreams and goals. Another guest, Dimakatso, shared that she has challenged herself to live outside of her thoughts, thereby allowing herself to truly be herself.

As part of BIC Soleil's ongoing commitment to empowering women, gift hampers of shaving products were also provided to the guests. The event was an inspiring and empowering experience for all who attended, and demonstrated the power of coming together, sharing experiences, and uplifting one another.
