BIC South Africa Brings Hope to Upcoming Generation

(Johannesburg, South Africa – July 12, 2022): BIC, a world leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers has launched a national program in South Africa titled #ColourTomorrow. The program is grounded in the company’s purpose of bringing simplicity and joy to everyday life and is the latest manifestation of BIC’s commitment to advance and support education in the communities in which it operates.

Stemming from BIC’s commitment to improving learning conditions for 250 million students by the year 2025, #ColourTomorrow aims to further inspire and encourage students and teachers to believe in, and work towards, a better tomorrow. The program is comprised of a series of activations that will run throughout the year.

To kick off the program, BIC has transformed key locations into imaginative spaces extending creative expression outside of the classroom.

Specifically, wall murals have been created at the Johannesburg Zoo, Leratong Primary School in Soweto, the Seventh Day Adventist Church Primary School, and Thaba Jabula Secondary School in Soweto. Murals will be a permanent attraction and open to all South African citizens, residents, and tourists. The mural at the entrance of the Johannesburg Zoo is an intricate hand-painted piece that depicts the animals inside, and an interactive spot for zoo visitors.

Commenting on the occasion, Kutlwano Tshetlhane, Marketing Manager Human Expression (Stationery) at BIC, said: “Education is one of the main pillars of our business and our commitment to the communities in which we operate. Creativity has become a major player in education and self-expression is an extension of that. We are delighted to play a role in the South African community. We constantly launch activities that help boost creativity and enhance learning abilities, inside and outside of the classroom, all the while beautifying our beloved country.”

BIC has long been a champion of education and self-expression. Last year, the brand launched a nationwide Teacher’s Program which aimed to connect teachers across the country to share knowledge and elevate learning experiences for students.
